Designing Artwork That Prints Well
- Resolution: work at 300 DPI at final size. A laptop lid is roughly 35×23 cm — anything you can read clearly on screen at that size will print clearly.
- Safe margins: keep important elements away from edges and cutouts (vents, webcam, logo). What looks centered on screen may be cropped by the cut.
- Dark and neon work best: printed vinyl shows black and glow tones beautifully, which is why dark designs with neon accents — like Stickerlight’s look — are the classic choice for stage.
- Avoid fine text: text under roughly 10 pt at final size prints muddy. If a word matters, make it big.
Designing for a DJ Brand
Your laptop is visible at every gig, so the skin is part of your identity. Use your DJ name and logo, keep the design consistent with your social profiles, and remember the room sees it from a distance — big shapes read better than fine detail.
